Description:
As the use of high-throughput screening expands and creates more interest in the academic community, the need for detailed reference materials becomes ever more pressing. Cell-Based Assays for High-Throughput Screening: Methods and Protocols aims to fill an important part of this need by providing an easily accessible reference volume for cell-based phenotypic screening. Leading researchers in the field contribute state-of-the-art methods with actionable protocols covering four major areas of study: model biological systems, screening modalities and assay systems, detection technologies, and approaches to data analysis. Written in the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biologyв„ў series format, each chapter includes a brief introduction to the subject, lists of necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step laboratory protocols, and a Notes section detailing tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Cutting-edge and easy-to-use, Cell-Based Assays for High-Throughput Screening: Methods and Protocols presents an overview of relevant approaches, enabling the direct application of existing methods to new discoveries while also inspiring researchers to approach their screening projects in a conceptually modular fashion, enhancing the power to discover through new combinations of existing approaches.

Description:
Racing through the backwoods of Massachusetts and on the verge of being taken down for one of the biggest and most disastrous bank heists the state has ever seen, Parker runs right into the barrel of a gun pointed from the "wrong" side of the law. A quiet but angry recluse--with only a silent parrot for company--Tom Lindahl saves Parker from the police dogs, while enmeshing him in a dubious, highly dangerous, but potentially profitable scheme. Far more than some aimless indigent holed up in a shack in the woods, Lindahl is a man built on rage and driven by a thirst for revenge. A whistleblower whom nobody listened to, a man tossed aside by a corrupt political establishment, Lindahl now plans a daring act of vengeance, and Parker holds the key.

Description:
The Moon of Gomrath is the name of the one night of the year when the Old Magic is at its most powerful. Had Colin and Susan known this, they would never have obeyed the strange compulsion that drove them to light a fire on the Beacon. But now it is too late, the band of ancient horsemen called the Wild Hunt are awake and on the ride, and no one is safe. Colin is captured, Susan falls under the sway of the hideous Brollachan, and all along Alderley Edge the forces of evil rally for the conflict to come. For there will be a battle, the likes of which cannot be imagined by mortals. And the outcome -- and all the hopes of the world -- depend on three unlikely champions: Susan, Colin, and their ally, the Wizard Cadellin.

Description:
Relational Mechanics is a new mechanics that replaces Einstein's theories of relativity. It implements Mach's principle quantitatively based on Weber's relational law and the principle of dynamical equilibrium. It explains Newton's bucket experiment as due to gravitational interaction between the water and the distant universe when in relative rotation. The book is intended for physicists, engineers, mathematicians, historians, philosophers of science and students. About the Author Andre K.T. Assis, born in 1962, is Professor of Physics at the State University of Campinas, Brazil. He held a post-doctoral position at Culham Laboratory, UKAEA, England, during 1988, and was a visiting scholar at the Center for Electromagnetics Research, Northeastern University, Boston, USA, from 1991 to 1992. He has published dozens of papers on relational mechanics and Mach's principle, Weber's electrodynamics and Ampere's force between current elements, Hubble's law of redshifts, the cosmic background radiation and cosmology. He is the author of Weber's Electrodynamics (Kluwer, 1994) and five other books in Portuguese on related subjects.
